# How do I create a snippet?

# How to create a snippet

1. Head over to the [Expand](https://web.merci-app.com/u/snippets) page
2. Want to keep things organized? Create a snippet group to sort them however works best for you.
3. Once your group's set up, click `Create a snippet`.

| 💡 Tip: In a hurry? You can also just click the + button right on the group's card.

4. Now set your text and trigger:
* Give it a title and a trigger
* Type in the text you want to insert
* Add in some time-saving actions (text fields, date fields, user data fields, or an optional section)

5. Save and give it a spin: confirm your snippet, then try it out in a text field.

## Edit or delete a snippet

* **Edit:** Head to your snippet list and use the edit tab next to the snippet you want.
* **Delete:** Use the delete button at the bottom of that same edit tab.

## Using your snippets

* **Snippet with an action:** Type your snippet trigger into a text field and a window pops up. Fill in the fields or confirm any optional sections, then hit confirm — your text drops in automatically, right where your trigger was.
* **Snippet without an action:** Type your snippet trigger into a text field and the text swaps in automatically. No extra steps needed.
