# How do I disable Single Sign-On (SSO) for my workspace?

Don't need Single Sign-On (SSO) anymore? You can turn it off whenever you like. To prevent any accidental change, this action is protected by a double confirmation.

*SSO is available only on **MerciApp Enterprise** plans. Only the workspace **Owner** can see and trigger the deactivation — other roles won't see the button.*

## What to know before you turn it off

Before you confirm, keep the impact in mind:

* Users who signed in **without a password** (through SSO only) will need to use the **"Forgot password"** option to set a password and get back into their account.
* Sessions that are already open **stay active until they expire naturally** — no one gets kicked out right away.

## Steps to disable SSO

To turn off Single Sign-On, follow these steps:

1. Head to your **Workspace settings**, then open the **SSO** section.
2. Click the **Disable SSO** button. A **confirmation window** opens and reminds you of the impact.
3. In the confirmation field, **type the name of your workspace** (shown in semi-bold in the field label). You can type it or copy-paste it.
4. The confirmation button stays **disabled (greyed out)** until the name you type matches your workspace name exactly. Once it's correct, the button becomes clickable.
5. Click the confirmation button to **disable SSO**. A confirmation message (toast) lets you know it worked.

*This double confirmation makes sure it's a deliberate action — there's no silent one-click deactivation.*

## How to check your SSO status

In your SSO settings, a dated badge shows the current status of Single Sign-On:

* **Never enabled**: no badge is shown.
* **Currently enabled**: the badge reads **"Enabled on [date]"**.
* **Enabled then disabled**: the badge reads **"Disabled on [date]"**.

**Important:** disabling SSO doesn't erase your setup on the identity provider side. If you want to switch SSO back on later, check out our dedicated articles on enabling SAML or OpenID SSO.
