How do I format the content of my snippets with keyboard shortcuts?

When creating or modifying the content of a snippet in your MerciApp workspace, you can apply different formats to your text directly using keyboard shortcuts or Markdown syntax.

Lists and structure

To create lists, simply use Markdown syntax:

  • Bulleted list: Type - (hyphen) followed by a space
  • Numbered list: Type 1. followed by a space

The list will be created automatically as soon as you press the space bar.

🎯 How to use these methods?

With keyboard shortcuts:

  1. Select the text you want to format in the "Snippet content" field
  2. Press the keyboard shortcut corresponding to the desired formatting according to your keyboard language
  3. The formatting is applied instantly to the selected text

With Markdown syntax:

  1. Type the syntax directly around your text (for example: **my text in bold**)
  2. The formatting is applied automatically when you finish typing

Tip: You can also use the shortcuts before you start typing. The formatting will then be applied to all the text you type afterwards, until you disable the formatting with the same shortcut.

💡 Tips for use

  • Combine formats: You can apply multiple formats simultaneously (e.g., bold + italics)
  • Cancel formatting: Use the same shortcut a second time to remove the formatting, or press Ctrl + Z (Windows) / Cmd + Z (Mac) to undo the last action
  • Choose your method: Keyboard shortcuts are ideal for formatting existing text, while Markdown syntax is useful when writing
  • Create lists quickly: To structure your snippets, simply start with - or 1. at the beginning of a line
  • Test your snippets: After creating your formatted snippet, test it in a document to make sure the rendering matches your expectations
