How to use the Expand list?

What is the Expand list?

Remembering all the triggers for your snippets available in Expand can be complex, or even impossible depending on how many there are.

The snippet list (in Expand) is a window that you can open directly from your input field, allowing you to view all the snippets available to you and saving you from having to remember the exact trigger. From the window, click on the snippet of your choice to insert it into any text field.

How do I open and use the snippet list?

To open the snippet list:

  1. Click in a text field
  2. Enter the default shortcut defined by MerciApp: %%
  3. The snippet list will open automatically

To use the snippet list:

  1. Search for the desired snippet using the search bar at the top of the window
  2. Click on the snippet of your choice
  3. The content is automatically inserted into the text field where you had positioned your cursor

How to change the shortcut?

The following feature is currently in development and is not yet available. If you would like to use this feature now, please contact your account manager.

**Owners **and **administrators **can set a common shortcut for all members.

Changing this shortcut will affect all members of the workspace.

To configure the shortcut for your workspace:

  1. Go to the space settings, Expand tab
  2. In the Administration section, click on the shortcut field
  3. Choose your shortcut (examples: %%, **, //, ;;, sn)
  4. Confirm by pressing Enter or clicking the Confirm and apply to workspace button

Tip: when defining your shortcut, consider the built-in commands of the tools regularly used in your company to avoid creating conflicts (example: "//" is a native Notion command, so the snippets window could not open on this tool).

  • Use short, precise keywords in the search bar
  • Organize your snippets with detailed names and descriptions so you can find them easily

Troubleshooting

The shortcut isn't working:

  • Check that you've entered the correct shortcut.
  • Refresh your browser window with F5 or Ctrl/Command + R

I can't change the shortcut:

  • Shortcuts must follow a few rules, such as a minimum length of 2 characters and a maximum length of 6 characters.
  • Emojis and the following characters . : ) ] } cannot be used.

The search cannot find my snippets:

  • Check the spelling of the search terms
  • Try more generic keywords
  • Consult the complete unfiltered list to check that your snippets are present

Insertion does not work:

  • Make sure your cursor is positioned in the text field
  • Check that you have editing permissions in the field where you want to write
