How to optimize local data storage in remote desktop environments?
In some cases, MerciApp Windows users use RDS (Remote Desktop) access to access their work environment. In this case, local data is deleted as soon as a session ends, causing the user to lose their MerciApp connection and forcing them to reconnect each time they log in.
MerciApp Windows is installed in the AppData\Local directory of the logged-in user, so if the user's profile is not saved, the user will be forced to reinstall MerciApp Windows each time they log in.
Solution
There are two MerciApp Windows directories in AppData\Local: a MerciAppData/ folder where we store user preferences and authentication tokens, and a MerciApp/ folder where the executable and application dependencies are stored.
It is not necessarily necessary to back up the MerciApp directory; you can use the MSI provided here, which, once installed, will check for the presence of the MerciApp directory each time you log in and, if necessary, silently reinstall MerciApp Windows.
However, *the directory MerciAppData/ must be backed up to avoid losing user preferences and authentication tokens and having to reconnect after each login session. To do this, we recommend creating a GPO redirection policy for the *AppData/Local/MerciAppData/.
